Part 8: A Realistic Journey to Certification: What They Don't Tell You!

ON THE EXAM DAY: In person

Identification Requirements

Go with a valid government-issued ID card as required by the exam provider. Note: The details on your ID card must be the same as those on your exam account profile.

Arrive 45-60 minutes early.

For an in-person exam, go at least 45 minutes early. There are several reasons for this:

  1. You will be required to read and sign the exam’s terms and conditions.
  2. Your picture and digital signature will be taken before your exam
  3. Compose yourself before the exam. Going to the exam centre late may cause panic; go early so your mind will be at ease before the exam.

Knowing the exam Interface.

This often overlooked area can make a big difference in your performance. I will let you know the important feature to look out for:

  1. Countdown timer (not a stopwatch)
  2. Flag for review later icon
  3. Next button
  4. Previous button
  5. Question number
  6. Review exam questions(appears after the last exam question)

Note: The exam clock is a countdown, not a stopwatch. This threw me off because I used to time myself with a stopwatch.
Note: The AWS exam is 130 minutes for 65 questions, meaning 2 minutes per question. Don't spend so much time on one question. If a question proves challenging, flag it for review and revisit it later.

In the final section, we will cover what happens after clicking the final submit button. Stay tuned for the final section.
