Part 6: A Realistic Journey to Certification: What They Don't Tell You!

PART 6: EXAM SCHEDULING
Studying for an exam is hard enough; scheduling for it shouldn't be. - Hayford O.A
After completing your study guide and testing your exam readiness, you should be ready to schedule your exam.
Create your exam account.
As a first step, make sure you have created an account on your test provider's platform. (e.g., AWS, CCNA, Oracle, etc.)
Decide between ONLINE or IN-PERSON
Next, you need to decide if you want to take the exam online or in person. Here are some recommendations to help you decide:
Choose Online If:
- Online payments are supported in your country.
- You have a 100% paid voucher, even if online payments aren’t supported.
- You have a stable internet and an uninterrupted power supply
- There will be no distractions during the exam
- You are comfortable being monitored via webcam throughout your exam
Choose In-person if:
- Online payments aren’t supported in your country
- You don’t have a 100% paid voucher
- You lack a stable internet, power supply, and a distraction-free environment.
- You require special accommodations during your exam.
SCHEDULE YOUR EXAM
In-person Exam Scheduling: Pearson VUE Use Case
If you decide on in-person, it will likely be administered through a provider like Pearson VUE.
- Search for “PEARSON VUE - Find a test centre” on Google
- Type in your country, and you will see a list of all test centers in your country
- Filter to choose the one closest to you
- Get the location and contact of the Test centre
- Go to the exam centre (or call) to speak to the admin. The admin will guide you on how to schedule your exam.
Online Exam Scheduling
- As a prerequisite, for both online and in-person, you must have your exam account ready. Your exam account profile must match the details on your Identification card.
- Log in to your testing account and locate the exam scheduling section on your portal.
- Make sure you select the correct exam code
- Make a payment if supported, or redeem your voucher.
In the next section, I will delve deeper into the payment process.
